BBC Coffee has significantly enhanced its packaging process by implementing a nitrogen PSA system in collaboration with Oxysystems.
BBC Coffee, established in 2020, is a premier coffee roaster renowned for crafting bespoke whole bean and ground coffee options tailored to clients’ preferences. As a global producer of high-quality Nespresso-compatible coffee pods, they also excel in producing cold brew dilutions and concentrates, brew bags, speciality instant coffee, and single-serve filter cups.

Recognizing the benefits of onsite nitrogen generation from the outset, BBC Coffee invested in this technology from the launch of its operations. As a large-scale coffee roaster and packer, the company utilizes substantial amounts of food-grade nitrogen (N2) daily. Onsite production is not only financially and economically viable but also significantly greener compared to conventional supplies, drastically reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
BBC Coffee has further advanced their sustainability efforts by incorporating Oxysystems’ HEAT RECOVERY option. This innovative feature repurposes system-produced heat to heat water, cutting additional business expenses. Overall, the onsite N2 PSA system is CO2 negative, effectively offsetting other less sustainable processes within the business.

The Nitrogen PSA system is strategically installed on the first level of the production hall, equipped with large product tanks. The system is extensively hard-piped into the production facility, making it an essential component of the production process. Since its implementation, the initial investment in the N2 PSA system has paid for itself within a few years, and now it continues to provide substantial monthly savings that can be reinvested into other areas of the business.
